As a Technical Writer for Process & Training (Multimedia) at Informatica, I created various trainings using Articulate Rise, Adobe design tools, and Vyond. This project highlights how I incorporated a new design software, Vyond, for the Documentation team with a final deliverable at the end.

Tools used:
Adobe Audition
Adobe Illustrator
Articulate Rise
Camtasia
Vyond
Objective
This training onboarded new technical writers, multimedia creators, and editors on the Documentation team at Informatica. It taught new hires how to gather information using various tools and subject-matter experts (SMEs) at Informatica.
Process
Plan and storyboard
I defined learning objectives and key takeaways by researching the Documentation team’s needs. I reviewed our authoring guide, analyzed existing workflows, and consulted with SMEs.
After outlining the content, I presented it to my senior director of documentation for review.
Once approved, I drafted a narration script in active voice to guide the video’s content.
Finally, I designed the visual aesthetic and layout using Adobe Illustrator, Vyond, and Informatica’s brand guidelines.
Screen Recording & Editing
I recorded the narration script in Adobe Audition, then edited and enhanced the audio.
I transferred the narration MP4 files from Adobe Audition to Vyond. While I typically use Camtasia, I advocated for and tested Vyond, which offers a built-in audio timeline.
I synchronized the narration files with the video design and animations.
To ensure accessibility, I created closed caption VTT files for the video.
Integrating the Content into Articulate Rise
Informatica’s training platform, INFAedge, requires SCORM files to store and deliver training content, including videos, text, and quizzes. To prepare the course for upload, I:
Built an Articulate Rise course to host the multimedia video, text, and quizzes.
Finalized the training and converted it into a SCORM file for seamless integration with INFAedge.
Challenges & solutions
This project was an exciting opportunity to advocate for better design tools in our training process. Our Vice President of Products emphasized the need for more engaging videos instead of static PowerPoint presentations. In response, I proposed to my Senior Director of Documentation that incorporating new design tools could streamline both the design and narration process. After researching various software options, I recommended Vyond as a solution for our team.
Challenge 1: Integrating New Design Software into Our Workflow
Introducing Vyond required adapting our existing workflow to a new tool. To help stakeholders understand the transition, I created a workflow diagram that outlined the changes and demonstrated how Vyond would improve efficiency.
Challenge 2: Enhancing Training Design and Efficiency
Our previous process relied on PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, and Camtasia, which resulted in low-quality videos that were time-consuming to produce. With Vyond, we gained several advantages, including:
Scalability – AI-generated voices allowed for quick updates without re-recording narration.
Faster ideation and design – The platform’s built-in tools streamlined the creative process.
More engaging animations – Enhanced visuals made training more interactive and appealing.
User-friendly interface – Vyond simplified video creation, making it more accessible to the team.
This project not only tested the capabilities of a new design tool but also demonstrated how workflow improvements could make training creation more efficient for designers and more engaging for users.
